Bene Tleilaxu Master by RingmasterBent Bene Tleilaxu Master by RingmasterBent
These little bastards are my favorite faction in the Dune series. They are characterized by bleached skin, pointy little teeth, and a lack of height. Notice he's got a dart gun stashed away in his sleeve should those stinking Bene Gesserit witches try anything.

I think they're cool because they have such incredible knowledge and skill in genetics. According to "Heratics of Dune," they believe machines of all kinds are evil (as does everyone else in the Dune Universe,) but the Tleilaxu were able to replace all their technological needs with genetically-engineered beasts and people. To a degree, I believe some of those tricks would be useful for our own real Universe.

You have the Tleilaxu look nailed dead-on in my opinion!

Thanks! I'd love to live in a world of flesh machines. Wait, that sounded wrong.

Ahhh...but you got to concider this: How far are you willing to go with such technologies before it becomes immoral? How far CAN you go before it becomes immoral?

Woo a monopoly! Although I'm not sure how many people actually do that search. Thanks!

Just about perfect. The only difference I ever envisioned was that I picture the Tleilaxu having really wiry, oily hair hanging down their shoulders. Otherwise, this is almost exactly what I would see them looking like. Excellent job.

Thanks - it's interesting to see how many different visions people have of the characters and organizations. I like comparing the concept art for the first Dune movie (that was never made) with the Lynch movie for an extreme example. The Lynch version actually came a lot closer to my perception than anything else so far. Except the navigator - the navigator was just, uh, no.

Personally, I find the Bene Gesserit to be comforting and nun-like compared to the Tleilaxu.

You find nuns comforting? I always suspect they're hiding torture devices under those robes.

I also sometimes find it hard to believe that they are Buddislamics, like the Fremen (albeit of a different denomination).

If anyone ever does fanart of an Axlotl Tank, I think I will die of both disgust and impressed-ness. HINT HINT.

But, regarding our little Tleilaxu man here, very impressive. Fave'd!

Haha wow, I hadn't read the original description in a long time and ended up typing the same thing in my answer as I did in the description. Oh well, I guess it proves my point.

Ahh, great interpretation. It reminds me of the original Dune covers (the ones that looked somewhat like a fantasy novel with flying saucers), only with your dark touch. :D
He looks simultaneously both comfortable and uncomfortable, I think it's because of his expensive looking costume and hunched, painful appearance. Very nice stuff. +fav

I always saw'em like Ugnaughts like in Star Wars (the midgets used in Empire Strikes Back), but with the Islamic mannerisms Herbert gives his characters, I suppose this is more appropriate. It's very elaborate and ornate, but I guess it could pass for the ropes and skull cap of a devout Muslim. Very strong feeling of texture there. It makes me think those robes are softer than velvet.
